We've been told that the self-driving car is just around the corner. If we only wait a year or two, Silicon Valley's latest triumph will begin to usher the American street, highway, and city into a safe, efficient, fully-automated utopia. That's the pitch, at least. Bob spoke with Peter Norton, professor of history at the University of Virginia, and Emily Badger, urban policy reporter for The New York Times, about the history of car salesmanship and the likelihood of the present-day vision coming true without unintended consequences.
